i have dyslexia i can read and speak in basic french, but i am finding it hard to get the spelling of words down. is there any advice you could give me to improve my spelling?
You can use a spell checker in your browser, and you add the French dictionary. You can have English too and switch from a language to the other easily by doing a right click in the box where you have to type text. On Duolingo, though, you will have to switch often from FR to EN, because the questions alternate them. But you can simply keep the French spell checker on during the lessons if you have no problem with your English spelling.
Here is how to use a spell checker on Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-firefox-spell-checker. You can probably find easily the same kind of help for the other browsers.
The spell checker will not prevent you from writing the wrong words, though. It will only propose you the closest words to what you have typed. For instance, if you write 'jeus vai mangé', the spell checker will consider the third word correct (although it is grammatically wrong in context) and will suggest 'j'eus' and 'vé' for the two others, so if you follow these advices, you will write 'j'eus vé mangé' which is completely wrong. It should be: 'je vais manger'. So it is not a perfect tool, but it will still be of help. It will detect switched letters, missing accents, things like that. It will give you the little help that you need, and it is not like cheating. You can learn from using a spell checker.
just keep trying, I figure if you keep trying and working hard and not giving up you can figureout anything, you are welcome to follow me if you want.
