"Patient has pneumonia"

Translation:Mgonjwa ana kichomi

May 22, 2017

How do Swahili speakers distinguish between pneumonia and "a sharp pain," if both are rendered as 'kichomi'? Is there further wording which gives context?

I believe "kichomi" is the wrong translation, as the word is derived from "kuchoma", pricking or stabbing, pointing towards a sharp pain. Perhaps homa ya bombom is the correct translation.
