I lost my 83 day streak although I didn't miss a day!
I asked Duolingo about this, but no response yet. I work hard to not miss a day, so I was extremely surprised and disappointed to have lost my 83 day streak for nothing. I'm not going to pay $9.99 to get it back! Is this a scam?
The same thing happened to me today! I was so excited to get my 100 days streak today, but when I opened DL, it told me that I lost my 98 day streak even though I made it to 99 yesterday! It's almost silly how upsetting this is.
If you hear anything, please let me know!
Same thing happened to me today. I was told that I met my daily goal yesterday. When I logged in today, it said my streak was lost and then gave me the same two lessons I did yesterday. Feels bad losing the streak. I'm tempted to just log in every other day so I don't have a streak to lose from now on.
Today I lost 98 day streak. It was the same way as above. Yesterday I got message that I've met my daily goal. Today I got message that I lost my streak! I got very nervoues, I really paid attention to the lessons, to not forget about doing them... and eveything is lost... I am really, really upset.
Try contacting them on social media. I am, although I haven't gotten a response. Maybe if enough people do it they'll respond.
Losing a streak is hard. I lost a 994 day streak myself. So, I'm sorry that happened. :(
The option to pay to repair a streak was suggested by thousands of users. So, Duolingo decided to implement it. This streak loss page in the help section has been around far longer than the pay to repair option. So, I'm not suspicious of the information in it.
Equipping a Streak Freeze is a way to safeguard one's streak so that the pay option does not even appear. You can get one for 10 lingots from the Lingot Store.
I know this offers little comfort, but, here are 10 lingots for a streak freeze. It must be equipped ahead of time. It will activate automatically as soon as Duolingo registers a missed Goal deadline. I used to check mine regularly because I would get busy and forget a day without even realizing it. (I finally lost my streak because I got sick and lost track of time. I ended up missing two days in a row thinking I had only missed one. The streak freeze I had only protected for one of those missed days. :(
I would understand if I skipped a day, but I didn't. I have the club screenshots to prove it. In the past, I did skip a day and I paid $4.99 to fix it, now it's double that. If I had really skipped a day I wouldn't be so upset. I don't understand why this happened and why they're giving me no answers.
Duolingo were testing out various prices during the A/B tests before they settled on 9.99.
However, it's really good that you took that screenshot! I recommend equipping that streak freeze right away, and continuing to keep your streak while you wait for a response. Duolingo has 170 million users and only 70 staff who are spread out across various departments. So, replies can experience quite a lag.
Do you mind if I ask how you reported it and what information you included in your report? I'm just a forum volunteer, but, if I can spot anything that might help, I'd like to try.
I submitted a ticket through bug fixes. I emailed the screenshots. I didn't see any other option.
You've done it correctly.
You aren't showing a one day streak from yesterday or today. Are you still meeting your goal? If not, they won't replace it. If you are still meeting your daily goal, but it still isn't registering, find the automated confirmation email that has your ticket number and reply to that email. Keep collecting relevant screenshots and attach them to those replies.
