i keep forgeting to capitalize nouns
I find it difficult to do the translations to German in one exercise and English in the next because I will try to capitalize English nouns.
In German, can this be interpreted as "the food is pretty good?" In English we say something is "not bad" when we mean that it is surprisingly pretty good, which is a compliment. Is the usage for "ist nicht schlecht" similar in German?
yes, it can have that meaning
is it "schlecht" to translate to "That meal is not bad?" ? (That instead of The)
How can I distinguish between Das used as "the" and "that"?
