No clue. All my gems are colored and I have over 2700 lingots. Just work on the program every day.

None of my lessons have required lingots.. I'm not sure why it would ask for them

When I make too many mistakes it stops and asks if I want yo vontinue to pay with lingots, Thanx for answering

I've since used the mobile app and have seen what you're talking about. According to the Duolingo team, it's to encourage you to not binge on lessons
