Unstrengthening rate is out of hand
Everything is unstrengthening way too fast. I haven't learned any Portuguese in a week because I've been two busy strengthening the same 8 skills over and over and over and over and over again. Please fix this sometime!!!
I agree. All I have done for a week is strengthen Verbs Present 2, twice a day and it never goes above a 4 level while several others lose strength. One, Adjectives also never goes above 4 despite doing that one over and over, and over last week.
This seems to be a more recent development. I did not have this issue a few weeks ago.
I am memorizing all the DL sentences though, and what everyone has to say about them.
EDIT: Seems it is not just us in Portuguese, but site-wide:
EDIT MORE: Here is an official communication about this topic:
It depends on how many questions you get wrong and how many times you peek at words. Besides, it doesn't hurt to keep reviewing :)
Just when I can't learn anything new and keep up with other languages it gets frustrating...
I understand how you feel. A lot of the time I feel like finishing a lesson just to learn something new. But in the long run, strengthening will help you remember words and will help you become more fluent, which ultimately matters more than learning a few extra words at once and forgetting them the next day.
It is not so much about peeking at words...I go back and regularly peek to hear the pronunciation again!
When I was working down my tree I had to let go of the idea of keeping everything gold. I decided to keep the last four skills gold as I moved down. That gave me a fair bit of review as I learned new skills. Periodically I'd stop and regild the entire tree.
I totally agree! I have finished my tree but have between 15 and 30 lessons to strengthen each day! It is very frustrating. I didn't have this trouble when I was working on the tree- for me it seems to have developed in the last few weeks. Even when I pass a timed strengthen perfectly the same skills diminish the next day. Once I had to do politics 3 times in one day!
I know, I'm at level 12 and I can't even advance because I missed when I was on vacation
I've been doing a project that involves Duolingo, and I've discovered that if you spend one hour a day on Duolingo (every day, for the same language), then it will take you 30 minutes to strengthen skills. The other half of the time will be spent learning new materials.
