I have to stop myself from saying plug socket each time. Do you think it's worth putting in?

Yes; tick the My answer should have been accepted box. Give the plug a plug.

in English (England) we would say socket or plug, never outlet

No, a socket is a power outlet in English. A plug is the bit on the end of an appliance wire that plugs into the socket, thus connecting the appliance to the electric power. Hope this is helpful.

Dear Duo. Your Americanism is tedious. A plug is a power outlet in English.

NO Brit would say 'power outlet'! They are electric sockets!
