Someone just posted on my stream...
Someone posted on my stream. How, if that doesn't even exist before? How am I supposed to see it if I don't even have it??
you'll notice that when you click on someone's profile (in the desktop version) you'll still see a box that says, 'Write to so-and-so!'
Not for everyone.
For instance, I was still seeing it too when I was clicking on someone's username from a page that is still under the old version of the website(*) for some days after having been switched to the new version of the website but now I don't have anymore the box.
So, @Bob20020, if you don't see the box (when accessing a profile page by having clicked on the username), it's normal too.
(*) All forum pages are for example still under the old version, even for accounts that have been switched to the new version.
I was able to post on people's streams until very recently. I now have the new code and I can no longer post on anyone's stream, not even a moderator. So apparently Luis did lie to us when he said moderators would still have some sort of communication feature so that they could continue operating.

AFAIR, I only see(*) a comment from him saying that moderators will have tools to contact users: they do, they still have a "communication feature" (to contact, themselves, users).
(*) But I certainly can have missed on of his posts

Even if you click on my username here on this discussion (that's what dancepointe is referring to)? Not by entering manually the URL of my page profile, nor (once on a page profile) after refreshing it.
How are you able to contact users once everything switches over?
We have a tool to do so, as Luis announced.
And what good does it even do if we cannot contact you?
A lot of good: moderators need it to explain to users why their discussions/comments have been deleted (when they are), for example.
