The verb "geht"

Here is a sentence I got from DuoLingo: "Den Kindern geht es gut."

Is "gehen" a verb that makes "Die Kindern" into "Den Kindern?" Or is it because the Kindern are the receivers of the verb? Thanks! .

Ok thanks, that does help. From what I gather, the children are the benefactor of how it is going and the phrase "Wie geht's...." is always dative. And that the question "to whom?" is going to the children.

I just wanted to point out, there is no "die Kindern" ... it's "die Kinder" in NOM and ACC, "den Kindern" in DAT and "der Kinder" in GEN.
