Used to love this programme, but now want to give it up due to the new changes
Unfortunately the new changes to this programme make it impossible to move forward with language learning. Run out of health bars... Then you cannot continue on with the course. Awful. Particularly when it takes only one incorrect bit of coding somewhere for you to get completely stuck. I was typing out the whole answer, complete with acccents etc, to be told it was wrong. I know it wasn't... I even wrote down the 'correct solution' to check. It was a mistake in the programme. Fair enough, it is free. You expect the odd glitch. But when you are forced to give every answer 100 per cent corrrectly before moving on, and then stumble on errors such as these it makes the whole thing unusable. Incredibly frustrating. If changes arent made... like the ability to disable the health bar completely then I shall be uninstalling it.
Sorry for my bad punctuation. Think my keyboard is still on a Spanish setting. Another reason for some leniencey to be added to correct solutions for the programme though. It might not be that we don't know where the accents etc. should be, we might just have limited ability to actually type them as it can require memorising an international keyboard which does not have international characters marked on it.
Duolingo's web version and the Android App don't have the new "health bars and gems".
Maybe you have the possibility to use Duolingo's web version (www.duolingo.com) .....
on a PC/Mac/laptop ( a recent browser version is requied)
The most courses will have the accents etc. clickable in the screen of the lesson.
or in the browser of your Iphone/Ipad
(maybe it works only in Chrome or Firefox instead of Safari)
I would say use the desktop. It's better anyway. You can install the US International keyboard layout and easily type the accents in it.
I switched back to the desktop version and like it a lot better, I don't want to keep worrying about health loss.
when I reach a certain spot on level 11, the check note is too high & it won't move on. I repeated the whole lesson & it happened again.
