Well I just leveled up in Welsh and found myself dumbfounded as I realized that the level progress information is GONE! I hadn't realized I was close and (as silly as it may be) I actually find the realization that when I finish the practice I'm doing I'll be leveling up to be pretty great. Instead I wasn't even sure whether or not it actually happened.

I can't figure out why on earth Duolingo would remove that progress bar. The levels are a great motivation and the little trumpet song of triumph afterwards is something I look forward to (It really does work as a psychological reward.) I'm really hoping it's just lost somewhere in an update and that it will be back soon. (Please.)

I feel you, I was so surprised too when I checked and had already leveled up. It's the only gimmick I cared about.

I've been on Duolingo for the past year and a half and I've never had the progress bar you're talking about. You've probably been sorted into another A/B test, unfortunately. You can still check your progress by going to your profile.

Do you use the website exclusively? I've been on Duolingo a very long time, and after every lesson (or strengthen session), I've always been presented with a level progress bar. I still see the profile info re: how many xp points on my my profile, but I find that not nearly (even remotely) as inspiring as seeing a progress bar for my level. I KNOW if I just did my XP quota for the day (because that is clearly labeled on my home page) but I really appreciated the fact that I used to be able to see that I only need 50 more xp to level up. I just cannot comprehend this removal, and if you haven't had that, I can't figure that out either!! It's really motivating!

I use the website 99% of the time. Android doesn't have it either, as far as I know.

Hm. I don't know... I've used the website for several years, and just assumed this is how the website is for all (or most) users. (This change has only happened in the last maybe 3 days.) So, you never know when you're about to level up without checking your profile page?

No. I check the page fairly regularly if I'm working on leveling up.

Did anything else change at about the same time (removal of review option after practices or the progress quiz, for example)? This might be another thing that didn't make it over to the new website, some of which are slated to return, some of which at least I haven't seen referenced by anyone in a position to know.

I don't know about a progress bar, either (other than the one that shows up in the e-mails for a random language or two each day when it's for a language where I've completed the tree), but I believe I recall reading a comment from a staff member that the missing fanfare is a temporary matter with the new website, and will soon return.

Well, considering the progress bar and the "fanfare", I'd really be happy with the return of the progress bar the most. Hopefully they'll both be back. "fingers crossed"
