What is the difference between だれ and どなた?
どなた is more formal
Is '誰ですか' accepted?
That was my immediate thought too
Yes, as of 28-7-20 (but these forums are atemporal)
Super formal, like
"Who may you be?" Kinda formal
It's how you would answer the door or ask who is on the phone. An alternative question is 「どちら様(さま)ですか。」 At least, that's how I was raised.
Yep, I think that'd be even more polite than どなたですか.
"It" in Japanese is おに (oni).
Is it a friend of mine? Is it my brother? Somebody hurt my soul. I can't take this stuff no more!!!
