New "red circle" gives too few chances to learn a new concept and feels bad!

I've been doing Duolingo to learn Dutch for a few years now and loved every bit of it. I am making progress and moving through the list of topics. But every since you added the little red circle which disappears with each mistake I make, I have been angry and disappointed. When starting a new concept, it should be okay to make mistakes -- and I feel very disheartened when I can't keep trying. Suddenly, I'm cut off from continuing, which seems to be the opposite of your mission. If I make five mistakes (even trivial ones) I have to either pay or stop or go back and do an earlier lesson (which might be time I might not have) to earn more tries and that feel wrong. One of the reasons Duolingo has been so successful for me is that I could keep trying. It feels like the entire concept of your app has changed and you're now more interesting in getting money from me that you are in me learning. Please change it back!

This health feature was poorly considered and is a real nuisance. It needs to go.

Agreed. In the meantime, you can access the Duolingo website on your mobile browser, to circumvent it.

Feel lucky, my phone has forced me 1 minute to answer as many as I can. It doesn't matter how many I get right, after one minute I get 1xp for each question I answered. I always feel pressured from time and during the last 10 seconds I just sit there watching it because I feel like I can't answer in 10 seconds.

Also when I redid it enough times to earn my daily goal, I just left my phone screen on until it ran out of time.

Update: This feature is 10x worse for languages in a different alphabet, Japanese mainly. I don't feel i have enough time to read the words and I end up clicking what looks familiar rather than reading it. "This is the only word with a letter that looks like ^ so it must be the answer"

thank god I finished the entire french tree before this bs happened. I have been doing it on the computer for reviewing and keeping up my streak and it is so difficult to get every single thing perfect with all the accents and silent letters. It's so hard to not make a mistake unless you already know what you're doing but then that would defeat the purpose.

My app has recently been updated with a feature allowing the regaining of health for practicing any unit that has degilded (instead of it choosing what you review, which it often does poorly). It's a step in the right direction at least. I hope more users will get this version and that there will be further improvements yet, as unfortunately I suspect the system is here for the duration.

It's still there three weeks later. I just got to within one question of my daily new lesson and because I don't have enough whatevers (lingots? gems?) stored up and don't want to pay (not because I wouldn't donate if they asked me -- I simply don't want my mistakes monetized!) I'm forced to (a) practice an old lesson (which I do anyway when I can) but I would only earn one gem, so I'd have to start the whole lesson over with just one, which really doesn't allow for even a typo, or (b) lose progress and start the whole thing over tomorrow. This infuriates me and I know I'm overreacting, but pay-to-practice, especially a new skill -- let me say it again -- goes against the spirit of the whole app. And IamRobin I can't imagine doing this with a different alphabet. It would be so demoralizing. I'm all the way through three checkpoints in Dutch and it makes me so nervous and angry that I can't concentrate. Please, some Duolingo worker, answer me!
