Working in pastry/bakery : worths it?
Hi everybody. I am currently living in France, where the job of pastry/bakery is not paid really much when you start your carreer. I am interestind in Sweden since a few months and I am wondering how is the job of pastry/bakery out there. What could you tell me about how it is paid, how is the job searching, if it exists in small towns/villages etc ? Thank you really much. Sorry for my bad english :-)
Thank you ! It's a bit hard to me cause I don't speak swedish actually, but still useful.
In short, the web page lists information for bakers in all fields (think everything from industry bakers in factories to small cafés, pâtisseries etc). Employment prospects are good, salaries range between SEK 18400 and SEK 30000 (roughly €1900 to €3100) per month with a median of around 23000 (€2370).
If you do take up baking in Sweden, I hope you enjoy making kanelbullar, because you'll be making a lot of them for sure. :)
I already know about kanelbulle haha, thanks. Is it an okay salary ? In France, 1900 € per month is enough to live in a normal town if you have a few children.
It's not a great salary but enough to live on for sure. Beyond that it's hard to say since living costs in Sweden depend a lot on where you live.
For example house prices and rent are significantly higher in bigger cities, while if you live in the countryside housing is cheaper but you'll most likely want to have a car because of the distances involved (Sweden is almost the size of France with a population of only 10 million, so we're a spread-out bunch).
