When will Arabic be added? (preferably Levantine)

Hi guys!

I noticed Japanese was added recently. That's pretty exciting. Does anyone know when Arabic will be added?

Thanks! Morgane

I'm really looking forward to an Arabic course, too! Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing when it's coming. In the meantime, check out this guide on what to do if you want a new course. You can apply that for any other language you want added as well.

Unfortunately, Duolingo may not be adding any specific Arabic dialect (instead they will most likely teach Modern Standard Arabic). Of course, this might be wrong. However, on the same guide I linked above, there is a note at the bottom that reads:

Duolingo decided that (Modern) Standard Arabic is Duo's Arabic language. They have declared to have no plan to develop courses for other Arabic languages.

I don't think this will happen soon, especially not the levantine dialect. But there are other resources for learning Arabic and the lavantine dialect(s)

Thanks for responses guys! I speak Arabic extremely well, but in no way could I say I'm fluent either. I'm hoping they will add it soon, or dialects, so I can encourage people to learn!

Also I agree that it's incredibly subjective when it comes to which level five language is the "most difficult" ;)

I don't know any Arabic, but I'd like to learn, and I'd like to learn the Levantine variety in particular.

My interests are much more about communication in Lebanon than reading ancient texts or formal documents or watching Al Jazeera.
