Hi all,

As you might've read elsewhere, the reverse tree operation hasn't been able to properly take off yet. It will be quite a while before the English speakers can learn the new languages. In the meantime if you'd like to get a head start on Turkish, the almost exhaustive Memrise courses I had created last summer could be quite useful. Across 3 levels you can learn all the tenses, cases, conjugations, with the standard top-2,000 words sprinkled all over the place. There are over 40 hours of material, all complete with pronunciations in my voice :-)

Happy camping!

Improving your Turkish will probably not help you comprehend the nonsense that's in the air these days :-) but daily life will definitely be a lot more fun with a decent level of Turkish. Let me know if you need help accessing twitter!

I don't know how they are affecting the ban (blocked site, or whatever), but there's little anyone can do to stop people doing what they want online.

It's easy to get around any restriction :D Mind you, that is talking from a geek's point of view, lol.

For now I have posted it to FB for the benefit of my friends and relatives at Harmony. But I have three languages going at once on Memrise already! So Turkish is in a queue there. :) One of the three is vocabulary practice: Arabic. One I only need to learn how to read: Urdu. But the third I am learning from the ground up: Bosanski. Wish me luck, please!

Teşekkürler Christian! I personally really like the flashcard system for learning and those courses should make a fairly even learning-curve for you going forward. Do let me know how the other levels treat you. Görüşürüz!

I paid special attention to things you can start using immediately: touristy expressions, finding your way around, getting settled, colloquialisms, etc--which unfortunately, as you know, Duolingo lacks. It worked quite well for my wife so it's quality tested :-) Enjoy your crash-course!

I've been learning turkish for a while now, over 3 years and have just finished memrise level 3. I reccomend it to everyone who wishes lo learn or just refresh what they already know. I've also tried some other courses on Memrise but turkish is definitely the best one I came across.
