Hi guys! I'm a world languages teacher, mostly teaching French. However, I'm going to teach an elective this fall that allows students to explore different languages. During certain lessons that are longer, I like to have a "Song of the Week" to break up the lesson and let the students see the language used within the culture.
Because of this, I am seeking authentic songs/bands I can show the students. I'm looking for a wide variety so that there can be something for everyone. I do ask though for no lyric translation videos (i.e. Disney songs in the target language).
Thank you so much! And if there has already been a thread about this, please link it here. :)

Some of her music has a tiny bit of English in them. Not too much though.

If somebody is asking for "Authentic Japanese Songs" I reccomend songs before 2000 in general because Japanese songs tend to contend more Japanese-English mixes from that time on.

To name a few, search for this bands or musicians: "Dreams Come True" / "Yamaguchi Momoe" / "Garnet Crow" / "Sadama Sashi" / "HY"

Ghibli studios used some Yumi Matsutoya (Yumi Arai) for their movies. "Ruuju no Dengon", "Hikokiguma" "Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara". These are wonderful songs.

One of my favorites is 白いマフラー (white scarf) by the band Indigo La End. I'm pretty sure that this one still has a music video available on YouTube.

Another great one is フラッピー (Flappy) by Galileo Galilei. Their song Arashi No Atode is great, too! But with them I'm not sure what's going to be on YouTube. Their stuff tends to pop up and disappear again pretty sporadically for copyright reasons.

But honestly, anything from these two bands is pretty rad. Enjoy! :)
