copying notes and tips
why can't I copy and paste notes and tips into a work document anymore??
Are you using one of the various Duolingo apps on a phone or a tablet, or are you using the website, and if so, are you using the website on a phone or on a PC/Laptop?
I just copied the opening paragraph from the Tips and Notes on Basics 1 and pasted them here - as scilling points out, there is no obvious reason why you can't do the same.
Tips and notes Fáilte | Welcome!
Welcome to Duolingo's Irish course! In this course you will learn the official standard (an Caighdeán Oifigiúil) of Irish. But note, this is a written, and not a spoken standard. Irish is spoken in three main dialects, corresponding to three Irish provinces of Munster (south), Ulster (north), and Connacht (west). The audio in this course was recorded by a native speaker of the Connacht dialect.
I don’t know why you can’t do so. I just tried it, and I found that I was able to copy and paste from a skill’s Tips and Notes into a temporary file in a text editor.
Yes, and also you can sometimes find interesting and useful information posted in a discussion of a particular item, which can likewise be copied and pasted into a personal electronic notebook. And (if you are so inclined) vocabulary lists, and whatever else one might find helpful to keep for review. A lot easier than keeping notes on an old-fashioned steno pad. :-)}
Might be a browser issue. Using IE 11 I could only copy the text that was in tables to a Word doc. The rest of the text I could copy and paste in this text box like scilling did. If you try another browser like Google Chrome you should be able to copy and paste into a Word doc.
??? The text input box in Duolingo doesn't support tables, so you can't past a table into this text box, no matter what browser you are using.
You can copy text, including tables, from the Duolingo notes into a Word document using IE11 just fine.
Maybe I was unclear. I wrote that I could copy the TEXT from this site and paste it into a text box. I didn't write that I could copy and paste the HTML tables into a text box. When I copied the notes from the webpage using IE 11 to a Word doc the only thing that was pasted was the HTML table. When I used Chrome I was able to copy and paste all of the text and the HTML tables. Like I said, it could be a browser issue. That's what happened to me and that's how I solved it.
I'm not sure why you're having a problem - I just opened the Basics 1 Tips in IE11 and everything from "Fáilte" to the bottom of the page, which includes 2 tables, and pasted it into Wordpad, Word 2010, and the free online version of Word 2016 at onedrive.com. The look of the table is different in each case, but the text before and after the tables, plus the text within the tables pasted into each of the 3 documents just fine.
Not sure either. I do the exact same thing as you but all I get in Word are the two tables (nicely formatted though) when I use IE11. When I use another browser I get all the text and the nicely formatted tables. Blame it on the specific build of IE11 I guess.
