Beelinguapp: Children stories side-by-side (with audio)

Hi,

I'd like to suggest the community with Android (and soon iOS) the use of Beelinguapp.

Recently I finished my German tree and stumbled on this app by chance at the Play Store, and I couldn't be happier!

Here's a video explaining how it works. Basically, it displays a selected story (they go from fairy tales and news to science papers and novels) in 2 idioms in the same screen, and there's also audio in both languages for you to choose which one the narrator will use. They arranged the stories by difficulty level and many of them are well-known across the globe (Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel and so on).

There are many languages to choose from. So if you're not a cheap person and really want to improve your fluency in your target language, it's definitely worthy unlocking all its content (plus they upload new content weekly).

Enjoy!

I'm not a "cheap person" :P but my funds are tight. How much is the app? Is there a free sample version?

Yes, there are free stories there, so you can try them. Also there are 3 different paying methods, I believe I paid less than 15 bucks to have the full content unlocked forever, plus the new releases (and no ads).

The app's interface is great and everything looks good. You can tell they really put effort into it. In any case, it's worth paying and supporting them IMO. But don't believe me, download and see for yourself. I think they're currently working with 10 different languages.

I just downloaded Beelingua and the option to do the one-time payment to unlock the full content forever seems to have disappeared. I only have the options to pay yearly or monthly. =(

Agree, it's well worth checking out. I listened to the free stories and then made a one time payment to unlock the rest of the content. Great app

Glad you've also tried it! It's amazing, isn't it? I wish I knew about it long ago. How do you use it? I run the stories first with the audio in English while reading it in German, and then I put the German audio and keep listening to it. If I have doubts in a sentence, I stop and read it carefully, also checking the dictionary when I'm interested in a specific verb. Do you have your own method like that? What works for you? xoxo

I read through it first in French, before listening, then just refer to the English when needed. Once familiar with the story I then just listen. I have tried reading in English while listening in French but didn't care for that. I have finished all beginners stories in French and starting the intermediate ones. In Spanish I'm just getting started. Good luck

I am impressed that you noticed this! I wouldn't have if you hadn't pointed it out. I know some Arabic, and I agree with you. It appears to be a collection of separate letters. None of the letters are joined as you would expect in an Arabic text. I cannot see the words for "Arabic" or "learn". However, I have downloaded a story in Arabic and the words and the sound seem to be OK. I don't know enough Arabic to know how correct it is.

No I'm wrong. I looked again. It is correct Arabic, but it's written in separate letters and it's written left to right.

Thank you for telling me about this app. I've been looking for something to help me improve my Turkish listening. I like the fact that you can listen in your target language and read in either the source language, the target language, or have both on the screen. This gives lots of options for types of study.

I have this app. I know that you can slow down the voice, but I don't know how to do it. I feel kind of dumb. I just can't find the option!
