Having trouble with gender

Hi there! I've recently started learning German and I find it to be a fun and fantastic language to learn. However, I have been having difficulty with learning the genders of certain words (like "die Suppe" versus "der Durst"). Are there any tips y'all have to help? Thanks in advance! ^u^

Eventually you'll learn the rules. You'll be able to guess about 80% correctly.

Feminine words end typically in -e, -ismus, -tion,

Masculine words end typically in -st, -r,

Neuter words end typically in -chen, es,

Some time, it will just look like one of those gender words. It'll be easy, but take time.

I think there is no help. (Der Durst - Die Wurst). Da hilft nur das Auswendiglernen. Viel Gl├╝ck!

Use memorize, specificallly this course https://www.memrise.com/course/335725/comprehensive-german-duolingo-vocabulary/ to drill words ad nauseum. However, I really wish that there was an app that just showed words and then showed the options der das and die. That would be very useful.

This actually really helps, thank you :)

There are general rules, see below for some, but the best way is to remember the gender when learning the noun.
