I'm no longer asked to speak

I've happily changed and saved my settings to and from use of microphone over several months (corresponding to whether I am using my PC or my mobile). The last change was to 'use' but no one has asked me to speak. I've tried curing the problem by turning the setting off and on again but no luck.

Try a different browser, Chrome is known to work but InternetExplorer and Safari (to name just two) do not work. This has occurred when Duolingo changed to a Speaking API instead of using Flash.

Use your cell phone.

Unfortunately, the experience in the app is so much worse. I hate having timed practice forced upon me, and typing on the phone is only a fraction of the speed of a real keyboard (and many of the exercises on the phone is just to select the correct few words from a short list instead of coming up with the entire translation myself). If I had come to duolingo via the app and hadn't seen the web version I very much doubt I would have stayed at all.

As of now, I use the web for German, French, Welsh and a couple of reverse trees and the app for Japanese since it's only available there, but it's a constant annoyance.

I have the same problem in Firefox, just very recently. I didn't know that Duo had switched to an API.

Duo sound will now not work with explorer - no sound- if you go to Chrome the sound works but if you need to repeat a word using the mic duo will instantly cut in and say it is incorrect even though I have not said a word yet. I tested the mic and the mic jack and all is well . Also tried reinstall nothing- any idea's ?
