I live in Annecy, France and want to improve my French (I'm a B1 at the moment). If you want to practice French with me or exchange French time for English practice (I'm native British), let me know.

Bonjour - je suis anglais et je voudrais pratiquer mon français - j'habite à Annecy, France. Si vous voulez pratiquer français ensemble où pratiquer votre anglais on peux rendez-vous pour le faire.

If you're B1 and you live in France, couldn't you just go outside and talk to people? There are also meetup groups everywhere for all sorts of things. So just join some and go hang out with people.

Yes I've setup a meetup group -

but I don't work in France so don't really meet people here except when buying stuff in shops etc.. I don't think the French have random conversations with strangers like in America - they are coconuts not avocados apparently.

I guess it's easier for us to say but it is tough to strike conversations.

So in that case, try this site.

It's a chat site but there are plenty of people who want to talk over skype. My trick is that I look for people who don't know English well. That would force me to speak in french, explain things in french. Otherwise, we end up speaking English the whole time.

Hey man, I thought the same thing. Why you don't go to shop, coffee shop, whatever, you're in France. Come on!

ummm.. because I already know how to say "je voudrais un cafè et un croissant s'il vous plaît".. :-)

Bonjour Bclague: Je suis égyptien et heureux de vous rencontrer. Voulez-vous me donner une idée de votre éducation, de vos affaires personnelles et cela fonctionne avec vous?
