Regarding lesson 1 of the "Places" set...

There's a sentence in this lesson that says "Ми шукаємо вулицю Хрещатик". The meaning of this sentence is quite simple to understand, but, unfortunately, the name of the street given is incredibly difficult to translate to English, as there's like a hundred ways to type it. Hreschatyk? Khreshatyk? Hreschatik?... The lesson itself looks for a very specific spelling, so it's very easy to fail this question even if you understand the sentence properly. Thus, wouldn't it be a better idea to just replace this street name with something that's easier to spell in English?

I'd suggest вулицю Шевченка - such street can be found in every Ukrainian city

That's a good idea, or alternatively it could be something very generic like Паркова вулиця. In English both Park street and Parkova street could be accepted.

Hi Tim, you are totally right. But if you will struggle in future with spelling Ukrainian names in English, you can use this table as a manual for transcription. It's an official law regarding Cyrillic-Latin transforming of the words. http://zakon3.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/55-2010-%D0%BF
