German Question

In the sentence "das ist besonders gut" how is the ending for besonders determined? What is it agreeing with? Thanks!

Besonders is an adverb so it never changes. The adjective is besondere.

"Besonders" does not agree with anyone. ;-) It remains unchanged. A few examples:

(Das Auto) - Das ist besonders gut.

(Der Wein) - Der ist besonders gut.

(Die Blume) - Die ist besonders schön.

(Die Bücher) - Die sind besonders gut.

It's not necessary for besonders to take an ending in this case because it's not describing a noun, but another adjective: gut.

Side note: "Besonders" ist eines meiner Lieblings Wörter!
