What book can an upper intermediate (B2) read?
Hi, I got a B2 certificate one month ago, and now I am looking for a book that I can easily understand. What's about Pippi Longstocking?
What langugage are you actually asking about? And I think at B2 you should be able to read pretty much any book (unless it's a scientific book).
Cool, well just like I said, at your level, almost anything. So for example many people read Harry Potter or you can even read on internet (I used to read some fanfiction stories on internet (stories that fans of a TV show write to create their own stories with the characters from the show) that helped me a lot and then I went straight to books about computer programming..) So the moral is that anything that is of your interest could be good book for you. Is there a book that you read in your native language and you enjoyed it? Pick it up in english and read, first you know it will be fun and second it will be a bit easier since you know what it's about.
At B2, my guess is that you should understand most modern literature. I suggest you start with books intended for children and teenagers and if that works well, try modern adults' literature. Only go to older literature once you feel comfortable understanding that. If you've never read a book in the target language before, you could also start with one that you already know (it'll be less furstrating if it turns out to be hard). You'll develop your own feeling for what's hard and easy to read. Maybe avoid authors that use a lot of puns (f.ex. Pratchett), slang (unless it's made-up slang that gets explained, say in 1984) or dialect. Good luck and enjoy.
