Huh! Shouldn't そちら work too? Because it marked it as wrong.
Correct. そちら is more formal than そっち.
Marked me wrong for 学校はそちらです as well. I've reported it (11/19).
そち、そちら、あち、あちら should all work here. As should あそこ. This course would benefit greatly from explaining these things in the tips.
It works now. 6 / 1 3 / 19
学校はあちら and 学校はそちら didnt work for me. It should be right? I'm using two different levels of politeness by using そちら(polite), but omitting です (casual). I think it should be accepted, but duolingo accepting neither makes me confused..
so far I haven't actually been given the translation to any if the words, just English sentences that I have to translate. Educated guesses ftw
Lol you actually can click on English word and Japanese translation will come up. You came far without that feature XD
Not on mine, it won't.
It doesn't work... it gives the separate words like "その" for that and the Kanji for "way". You really do have to guess...
Good job Skynicorn. Believe it or not that is the best way to learn language. It's the natural way.
Whats the difference between acchi(あっち) and socchi(そっち)?
I accidentally turned my phone and it completed the sentence for me! I actually feel a little cheated, it stole my learning experience from me! ^^;
「学校はあちらです/がっこうはあちらです」 should be accepted. "That way" is translated as あちら or そちら depending on the situation. Reported on Oct. 28, 2017.
Is this the school is like this or the school is in this direction
seems to be direction
How do you know when to use the "less formal" そっち” vs "そちら”？
Are you talking to a friend, or your boss? Are you requesting something? Are you older or younger? If you're unsure how the person will feel, choose the polite version.
