Is the Vocabulary feature ever gonna be back?
its has been months since the vocab feature has all because oh this new UI!!!Many people are waiting for this feature to come back. But looks like its not going to be back!
Hi there! The vocab page is in the works and a new version will be out in April. Thank you for all your patience and the feedback.
Hey! Yes, it is :) Late April / early May is what we know is reasonable on our end given all of the projects currently being worked on. I'll make sure you're informed! Thanks for being patient. I know you all are looking forward :)
I am sad every day when I look at the little blue area on the web page, next to "Immersion" where Vocabulary used to be - lol. But at least the space is still there, which means Vocab's return may be immanent. I hope so.
Thank God we finally have some sort of idea as to when this will return. I've waited so long for it. Thank you very much
The DL team has repeatedly confirmed that vocabulary will be coming back. They have also repeatedly declined to give a date for its return. So, just because it hasn't come back yet doesn't mean it will never come back. I don't think they have any reason to lie to us about this.
People are upset because of some not particularly polite comments on other threads that implied it would only come back after they'd done everything else they could think of.
Well, now we have a date! 30 April at the latest, is what I read from kristinemc's comment. Happy Koningendag for all the Dutch folks on here, and a very merry Valborg for us Nordics!
True, I saw that after we had been hyping 30 April here (based on kristinemc's comment above). We cling on to every word! :-)
... not to mention Beltane for the Celts. But in the future it will simply be celebrated as Return of the Vocabulary Day :-).
A DL user wrote a script that gave us back the vocabulary feature. You will find it here:
Another DL user wrote a script which allows you to see all of the questions and your answers from a given exercise. Right answers in green, wrong ones in red with the right answers following. You will find the post here:

I believe it when I see that feature. I heard first rumors about March, that month ends in a week. So long I am using Memrise.
In all fairness, I've never seen anything from an official source stating (or even hinting at) March as the date. I've seen speculation and rumors from users, but nada from anyone at Duo. In fact, that's the key factor for my complaints about it, their lack of any meaningful communication about their plans for Vocab. Today, we have a target from Duo staff, late April / early May. There's not really any reason to not take Kristine at her word. Hopefully, we'll not be disappointed.
I work closely with everyone on the team, so this comes from all of us. We don't like to give exact dates because there is a lot being built and some projects can take priority over others. We do try to be as transparent as we can! I'll keep you posted.
I understand that. What dxaxvxixdx seemed to be referring to are rumors that have been circulating long before your posts yesterday, which claimed that the Vocab feature would return in March. When I first saw someone mention that several weeks ago, I looked at everything you, Luis and others had posted since the first of the year, and couldn't find anything to substantiate the claim, and that's what I was talking about in my post. Now that you've given us late April or early May to look forward to, it's a very different story.
And I get the reluctance to talk about dates too much before you can be reasonably confident about them. I've spent most of the last 22 years as a developer and project manager, but I've rarely been able to get away with being too tight lipped about dates with my bosses or clients haha.
I hope you'll be able to provide some details soon about what the new (hopefully) improved Vocab tools will be like - what will carry forward from the old system, new features / functionality, etc.
I am beginning to fear that I may in fact be responsible for this March Madness. On this previous thread a month ago, I wrote:
… any estimate of when it will be ready is practically guaranteed to be wrong, and then there will be great fury from a thousand people saying "but you told us, you promised it would be done by 15 March!" (NB: even if ETA is couched as "very roughly, barring unforeseen circumstances, we expect mid-March, give or take a month", this will be read by many hopeful individuals as "15 March, guaranteed!")
I suspect that someone may have skimmed down the thread and seen "15 March guaranteed", at which point this non-fact entered the rumour mill and never left it. Like you, I've never seen any March date mentioned by an actual DL staff member.
Phew, I can sleep easier now :-). It must have been someone else's random guess (or fervent hope) that got summarily promoted to a free-floating factoid.
What ever happened to that anyway? I was trying to find it this morning and started freaking out when I couldn't find it.
Hello, Vocabulary/Words tab is back. Thank you Duolingo. But it's just on "bulk mode", how about having it structured on chapter/lessons, as it was before?
To say "it's back" doesn't really tell the whole story. The current words tab is a listing of words you've been taught, but it's missing most of the functionality that made the old vocabulary tab useful.
