BRING BACK THE FASHCARDS!! PLEASE

Why did Duolingo get rid of the flashcards? Does anyone know? I found them very very helpful

Have you tried Tinycards? I believe that they serve a similar function.

sort of. i like tinycards. BUT, i also still have flash cards on my account, so you - @CoryHernendez, might be part of an a/b testing that duolingo officials are doing. What i wish we still had on Duolingo is Immertion. That was a great feature, and i han't been using doulingo quite as much as i should because it feels like it's falling apart :(

I think it's picking up it's pace though. The labs is a doorway for a bunch of cool stuff for the near future. I still lament at the removal of the Activity stream though.

The flashcards are definitely gone for Spanish and it's not part of A/B test. That's because all of the units of Duolingo Spanish course are available in flashcard format on their Tinycards site. It could be that you still have a flashcard function for some of your language courses because they haven't migrated to Tinycards yet, although I believe not nearly all of the Duolingo language courses had a flashcard function to begin with.

I agree; Immersion was extremely helpful. It's much nicer to take a whole text from a different language and try to read it and then the smaller sentences and phrases.

Duo got rid of them because they created a new one : Tiny cards.

Yes I have tried the Tinycards. They are ALRIGHT but I learn a lot better using the old fashion flash cards. They work great as long as you're honest with yourself when you do them. Or I should say DID them :( .. Wish Duolingo left that option there

DuoLingo Words flashcards are still there on the Android app from lekz: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/19154823/I-ve-made-an-Android-app-to-review-learned-words-same-as-in-Review-Flashcards

However, the flashcards API looks to me still not correctly updating your words list, e.g "last practiced", according to my test. And still NEW words are shown (polled from the database from the whole tree) which are NOT already in your "words learned" list (or known to you).
I even have no idea how the app still works, as I thought everything (the whole backend) was rewritten in Scala. Quite weird, that those (old) APIs are still supported :-)

You better go for 3rd party software like Memrise (AnkiSRS, Flashcards Deluxe, SuperMemo, etc.): https://www.duolingo.com/comment/23623732$comment_id=23629403
