Go to the lingot store and see if there's anything you want there. You can buy extra lessons on flirting and idioms, and at Christmas time they had one for sale about Christmas. You can also buy a streak freeze so that if you know you won't be able to get on Duolingo (traveling, no internet, whatever) you won't lose your streak. It's only good for one day though.

You can also give lingots to people for excellent comments and suggestions in the lesson discussions and in the discussion boards. That's what I usually use mine for.

Personally, I find the heart refills a little useless. I tend to not need them, as I'm extra careful during lessons. As you can see, I like to keep my streak going. For any reason, if I forget or am not able to practice, I buy a streak freeze, which has already saved this streak a few times. If you don't have many lingots, the wager is good, but if you have 600 like me, you don't really need it. Timed practice is always worth getting, because it stays with you forever, never fades. Same with the bonus skills. And, when you think you're ready, try out to get a certificaite, if you have enough lingots. Overall: I recommend Timed Practice and Streak Freezes (I, personally, usually have one of these with me at all times).

I have never bought Timed practice before. If I buy it, will I get it really forever? I thought it will stay only for one lesson and thus 10 lingots would have been much too much to spend for me.

Buy it once and it's good forever and good for every language.

It's really a nice feature, and I highly recommend it.

I concur! Definitely get the timed practice if you haven't already, and having a streak freeze is nice. The bonus skills I haven't found useful yet, although the flirting one was good for a laugh.

Timed practice and bonus skills are good for all the languages you're learning, BTW. You don't have to repurchase them for each language. I learned this on accident. :)

If you take the DuoLingo journey seriously, I would like to encourage you to buy certificates regularly (I do it once a month) so that you can see how you develop your skills. Getting enough lingots for that purpose is pretty easy, if you exercise regularly and keep your streak going.

@evian_water, i bought timed practice so i could learn a little more, PLUS it helps if you dont have any time during the day, just A timed practice and it will still keep you streak going, and it still gives 1xp. hope this helps!!! good luck!!. -LORD-OF-BIMICS
