To have in Hungarian

A focistáknak sok pénzük van, és sok barátjuk is. nem ügyvédem van hanem pénzem

Could someone please explain why -nak is needed in the first sentence and not in the second?

The footballers have a lot of money and also a lot of friends.
I don't have a lawyer, I have money instead.

In the first sentence it says 'They have' - Nekik van, and '-nak' with 'van' are basically the footballers themself ('...nak/nek van' - "they" have).

And where would you put -nak in the second one? I have - Nekem van
Nak/nek is plural form and the second sentence is about myself.

I assume the second sentence can be rearranged to accomodate the nekem van construction; i.e. Nekem nem ügyvédem van, hanem pénzem, or perhaps Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem. Is this not so?

The 'Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem' sentence sounds weird, unfinished.
With 'van' on its end its okay; Nekem nincs ügyvédem, pénzem van.
'Hanem' is not necessary because its already means I dont have (a) lawyer, i have money.

But you could also say, (which sounds more natural); Nincs ügyvédem, pénzem van.
You dont really need 'nekem' because 'nincs ügyvédem' means i dont have (a) lawyer in itself.

Senee is right, "Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem." is not right. The correct sentence is "Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem, hanem pézem van." or "Nekem nem ügyvédem van, hanem pénzem."

All this is fine but if I'm to be able to understand the sentence structure and reuse it in similar types of sentences I need to know why. Just saying "because it is" doesn't facilitate learning

And for the record: "Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem." was the "correct" answer. "Nekem nincs ügyvédem, hanem pénzem van" was my answer which was marked incorrect
