530 days streak lost

Hello, I lost my 530 days streak today but there was a streak freeze in place. When I logged in this morning I was asked 12 usd to repair but since there was the streak freeze in place, why I need to pay?

Who can I contact for it?

This morning you were able to buy a streak freeze, because your extended profile says
{"streak_freeze":"2017-07-24 07:48:59.607000"}
That means, your "streak freeze" was used yesterday or on an earlier day.

If you can proof that ......

  • your streak freeze was equiped yesterday
  • AND you reached your daily XP goal yesterday before 12 p.m in your time zone
  • AND all of your results were synchronized with Duolingo's servers before 12 p.m in your time zone

.... then you can send a bug report to Duolingo's staff

Losing a streak is a common complaint from people, who .......

  • use the Duolingo App
  • use an outdated operating system or an outdated browser.

Workaround for the App
Always check if your phone/tablet had synchronised with the Duolingo servers after doing a lesson. Sometimes it can take 5-10 minutes after finishing a lesson in the App.
E.g

  • have Duolingo's web version always open in the browser of your phone/tablet
  • set this browser in Desktop mode
    (maybe not possible in an iOS phone with a small screen)
  • refresh your browser after each lesson in the App, and check if the amount of XP increased in Duolingo's web version.

  • Check every day whether your streek freeze is still equipped.

  • Attention:
    A streak freeze starts protecting on the day after its purchase:
    it's only an insurance for the future, it's not a free pass for the same day!

That last part isn't right, unless streak freezes have changed recently. I bought 2 streak freezes in a row for the same "day" when I got busy

my source: using multiple streak freezes works for multiple days. Make a second account and test it.

Maybe, it is an so-called A/B test of the Duolingo staff.
Then they can change this behaviour in your account without any warning!

I do not need to test that, because I have set my daily target to 10 XP. And it is very easy to reach that goal in the Android App. I like to keep my streak without cheating, because the Duolingo Help Center says:
"A streak is the number of days in a row you have reached your XP (point) goal on Duolingo.

Submit a bug report and you will get a reply no matter how long it takes.

Duolingo Staff will check up your history and make sure that it's not a problem from your side and if it's not then you will get your streak back.
