Most of Duolingo's courses use text-to-speech (tts) software to generate the audio files. I doubt that there is a tts system available for High Valyrian. If we get audio for High Valyrian, it will have to be recorded by a person and that takes time.

I don't think that Duolingo has announced either way if there will be audio for High Valyrian or not. Maybe in time.

If there ARE plans to provide audio, I would not be surprised if Duolingo released High Valyrian without audio so that it would come out at the same time as the new episodes of Game of Thrones.

Lots of the courses in the incubator didn't have a TTS available - Esperanto, Irish, Ukrainian and Guarani at least, probably more. Hebrew there are TTS available, but the team weren't happy with them (partly because the course doesn't use kiqqud so the TTS sometimes gets confused by ambiguous words). Therefore, these courses all used recorded audio.

However, it's quite a bit more expensive, as you have to do a professional level recording.

The only other course to be released without audio is Swahili, although they are planning to add it later (will also be recorded rather than TTS).

Swahili was released without audio as well. It is being recorded by native speakers. (Although they would probably choose a proficient foreign language speaker for HV.)

Cause it's in Beta, that means that is still going to improve in the next weeks or months, just keep waiting.

Sounds more like: "It is in alpha but we call it a beta because we want to release it now without admitting that it is not a beta."

Perhaps because Duo is still looking for a native speaker to do the recordings.

It may take a while...
