Predicting gender in nouns

Is there a good way of predicting whether a noun is masculine or feminine?

I was somewhat confused by (feminine) smacznA herbata, and (neuter) smacznE mleko.

Dziękuję

Yes, in most cases feminine nouns end in -a or -ć and neuter ones in -o, -e, -ę or -um. Most of the others are masculine (although even here there are some that end in -a when they describe male persons such as "mężczyzna", 'sędzia", "atleta"). There's also a significant group of exceptions that are feminine even though the ending is different than -a or -ć but those ones have to be simply memorised.

The genders that you put in your post are wrong, I'm afraid. "herbata" is feminine and "mleko" is neuter.
