Ahoj!

Today the team expects to lock the tree. This means it can be released at any time between close to now (7/29/17) to mid August. Regardless of when it is actually released, it's always a good idea to know what you're getting into with any language. Here are some useful links for any beginner like myself.

I hope you find this helpful! Enjoy! :)

For those who don't know: Czech is a West Slavic language spoken mainly in the Czech Republic in Central Europe. It has over 10 milllion native speakers, many of which can also understand Slovak. Czech is also related to Polish, and more distantly Russian and Ukrainian, as they are all Slavic languages. This mean Czech will be the fourth Slavic language course Duolingo offers. Interestingly it will also be the seventh available language on the site whose flag (the Czech Republic's flag) has a red, white, blue color scheme (Along with English, French, Dutch, Norwegian, Russian and Guarani).

Hey, this is kind of random but for those who have taken a peak at it, is it weird that Czech conjugation reminds me of Spanish conjugation?

It is a neat coincidence that some of the conjugations are similar, especially given that they are both Indo-European languages. Greek reminds me of Spanish sometimes because of the omegas for the first person and the sigma endings for the second person. Once you know at least two indo-european languages, the rest get a little easier the more you learn (it's still work to stick it in your brain, though! That's the fun part of me.)
