Help with speaking in Irish

Dia daoibh, so i'm having some trouble speaking as Gaeilge, i seem to be able to read it ok and have a decent understanding of the words and meanings but when i close everything and try form some sentences other than the basics i go completely blank and struggle, and suggestions or tips to help me out here? Or does it just come with time and practice...

It comes with time and practice (just like everything else).

You should probably write the words down that you don't seem to remember. So, when you aren't using Duolingo, you can keep looking at the words. They will quickly get engraved into your long-term memory.

The key to learning a language is spaced repetition.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIokUII7LX0 was very helpful for me when I started, and for a few repeat watches as I went through Duolingo. Sharing in case you haven't already come across it.
