Is it really "confortable,' and not "comfortable?"

Once I wrote "coMfortable" in my french text and my teacher didn't correct it. So it is "coNfortable" ?
I guess it's a common spelling mistake in French that's due to the influence of the English language.
There is no reason I can see why French people would use an M in "confortable", unless they are also fluent in English and confuse their languages.
Cosy works, but comfy doesn't. Hope they fix that.
