"Io non vengo."

On the drop-down meanings the top one for "vengo" is "(I) am", yet when I answered "I am not," it said I was incorrect.

Venire can be translated with being only as the auxiliary for a passive action; e.g. "Io non vengo difeso da nessuno" (I am not defended by anyone). Unfortunately the drop-down can't offer any context.

I do not arrive, was marked down, yet it clearly says it is a meaning.
