I feel that i cant get around the new words that i learn and some old ones i almost forget my duolingo tree is all golden anyone know what can cause this? And how to fix
You could try to practice more even though your tree is golden. Use the words. Speak with the words. Write stories or notes or make any sentences, read something in Russian, watch something in Russian (maybe with Russian subtitles), listen to texts and read them at the same time, use Memrise or TinyCards. There are many possibilities. Don't use only Duolingo.
Keep in mind that forgetting is normal and important. Just repeat often enough. Repeat when you almost forget the words.
Try to think in Russian or whatever the lenguage you are learning. Try to translate whatever that comes to your mind, practice and practice. Associate the words with funny, exagerated and epic things, so they come faster to your mind.
As JensBu said, use the words. If you don't remember a word, it is actually good; take your time to recall it. Recollection is more effective than repetition, so you've got a chance to learn the word deeper. Make different associations with words, the more links you have to a word, the easier it will be to recall it. Good luck! Удачи!
I feel your pain.
Personally, I try to write out the words I know and their definition by hand and practice pronunciation at least twice a week. It helps me remember the shape of the words and the actual meanings better than staring at a screen.
You could also try to find some music in the language. I know we're not the same, but doing that was pretty helpful when I was trying to pick up Korean and German words. Same goes for bits of italian when I was reading random articles or conversations and putting it to regular use. Even switched my phones language - although that was more to irritate my mum than anything else when she tried to snoop.
Or just talk to someone in it. That works, too. I dunno, dude. I have a sucky memory, but for the most part I usually have languages down. Wanna try on me? All you gotta do is rant in it. Would do us both some good - you in remembering, me in actually getting this Russian thing when I can't do the typing thing on here.
