Passe, passe, passera, la dernière restera

Why is it "la"? "Le passant" is male according to dictionaries.

Will "le dernièr restera" make significant different song?

You mean this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59ziAeCrdW4 ?

In this song "La" refers to a bird : a swallow, une hirondelle.

    PS : Le dernier restera

Ok, so i just listened this song, the subject isnst "un passant". Because according to me, there isnt sens about the fact the last will stay.

This song let your interpretation work. Mine is, "la" means "seconde" (second, time). We have a lot of vocabulary about "time". Time is passing very fastly. And you see the time passing, but what is remaining is only the last second.
