where are the Deutsch progress tests? are they gone, and if so, are they coming back? many thanks!

They're gone.
The website was rewritten a while ago, and this is one of the features that the old site had that they haven't added to the new one.
It's possible that it may be added to the new one as well but it seems unlikely.
https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002969903-Duolingo-s-New-Website lists the "progress quiz" feature in the "under consideration" section but notes that "we would rather focus efforts on creating other, more popular shop items".
Thanks so much for your response. Disappointing though as it was helpful. Hard to understand why they'd get rid of it, as I can imagine it was popular? Not much to get with Lingots now either!
Beats me, too; I also liked taking it every so often and seeing the scores rise!

I agree. I've collected quite a few lingots, and can't spend them on anything...
They are gone. Maybe they will be back some day, maybe in a different form.
(You can test yourself by creating a new account and doing the test for starters.)

I'd love to see the quizzes come back! Any chance they will? On another note, I love the stories! Good job on that! Can't wait for stories in more languages!
