Speaking Exercises have peculiar behavior
I notice that speaking exercises seem to be kind of tracking me as I speak, highlighting each word as I proceed with the exercise. But sometimes it skips around, highlighting words in an order that does not reflect the words as I am actually speaking them. I find it a little confusing, and try hard not to watch it too carefully for this reason.
Also, it seems that sometimes there is a bit of latency, and I'm not sure if Duo "heard" me or not. So, then, I'll start over again, and sometimes Duo will tell me I did not get it right, even though I may have already finished speaking. So there is latency that frequently results in synchronization problems.
I hope the language and technical support staff will not take this too critically. I am really enjoying Duo. It seems like a great way to learn a new language. I notice that the different languages are set up more or less with parallel curricula, starting with the same types of words and use cases; it's kind of neat that you apparently try to do that. It's a bit like how textbooks approach it I guess.
This works for me and for someone else (https://www.duolingo.com/comment/23621870)
- At the moment, you need to start talking on the same time as you press the microphone button.
- When Duolingo is missing a word (red instead of green), you need to repeat the sentence immediately untill all words are green.
Thank you! It worked! Also, you need to have at least half of the sentence green to get the question right. For example (I am learning French), I have "Les enfants manget de la soupe", I got "Les, manget, de, la" correct, and I passed. I had to repeat, but it worked! Thank you, @Pentaan!
Yes, I have posted one similar to this (https://www.duolingo.com/comment/23797546). What I think is weird is that on the app (mine is Android) there is a"Can't use microphone now" option, whereas it doesn't exist online. I really hope that Duo does something about it. When I get the speaking exercises, I say the correct translation into my microphone (in my earpods) loudly, and Duo still doesn't get it recorded.
