I feel the same! As a native Czech speaker, it feels great to have this language added to the list.

Ahoj. I've just been picking up words all this while. Not so much though. Just a couple hundred. I didn't like any other material to learn Czech and that too is very limited. I just love how Czech sounds having influences by so many Languages.

That's great! I agree about what you said about how it's been influenced by many languages. In fact, as of today, I'm on vacation about 100 kilometers from the Czech Republic... :)

To keep sane, why not try other sites while you are waiting. Lots of luck.

Thanks. I was using the "Learn Czech" app by ATi Studios which seemed like a copy of Duolingo. Unfortunately it was too buggy. I thought I might as well wait for Czech to come out in Duolingo as it only showed 2 months at that time. I'm also focused on Japanese so I can wait a little more for Czech. It's just that when you are waiting in line, when you are almost at the beginning that's when we get the most restless ha :/

Unfortunately, recent trees have run up to two months between locking and release to beta (check the incubator posts for Italian from Portuguese and Italian from German). No idea what will happen for Czech, obviously.

I won't be able to start the course until this winter, so I cope well with waiting, but I am incredibly excited about Czech. I have bad luck with Duolingo since it does not provide the languages I am truly interested in, and with Czech it would be the first time that Duolingo hits the point!

Ha, a mystery with clues. Molecules, so you like the utterly elegant Czech system for designating the oxidation state via 8 suffixes? I always chuckle when dealing with the hypochlorite to perchlorate efforts in English.

Well, I am Russian and it is just interesting to learn how another Slavic languages work. We live not especially far away from the Czech border at the moment. Sometimes we even cross it during our hiking trips, and I hope that in the future we'll be able to have longer trips in the country, I have "really" and not occasionally been there only once so far and it was cosy. And I like the old songs of Karel Gott :D

I like Polish too, but the inner chemistry makes me tend towards Czech.

Well, maybe the latter things he has been doing are more Germany oriented, for the Schlager lovers. But I listen only to the songs from the sixties and maybe earlier seventies which were not Schlager but rather... Eastern block Rock'n roll, and these were very popular among my mom's generation in the USSR :)

That movie is a blast, but much of it might really kick in only for a native, like the flag dialog:

K: Наш красный!

L: Prosím tě, co je na tom krásnýho, dyť je to červený jako trenýrky. Náš je krásnej!

K: Наш красный!

L: Ale di, rozumíš tomu jako koza petrželi.

Yes, so true! The parsley comment does not make sense to me in English whatsoever, but I'm sure it's genius writing in Czech. :) It's funny you mention that flag scene - earlier I was talking to my mom about it and was explaining to her about the meaning of the word красный! meaning beautiful, and the word krásnej meaning red. I figured they were talking past each other with that. My favorite scene is when little Kolya is bathing and "talking" to his grandma, using the shower head as a phone. I cry like a baby every time I watch that scene.

The Czech contributors are hard at work though!! At least it's not like the Hindi course where I've heard the main contributor did absolutely nothing and has just started to allow other contributors to the team :/

Yes. I really appreciated the weekly update. And they finished it just around the deadline they had set. Reading through the comments I get a feeling this was one of the most dedicated teams.

I saw that the Hindi course had new contributors. Maybe the progress will be faster now.
