Confusing sentence

Hello people, just reading through random German sentences and came across this....

"So schaffst Du Dir Dein eigenes Leben"

which apparently translates to...

"so you can create your own life"

what is with the du and Dir here in this sentence, why do you need both?

Thanks

In English you could say "So you can create for yourself your own life." That is what I think the dir is doing here. Is there maybe a native German speaker who can confirm/clarify?

so Dir = for yourself ?
