You know nothing Jon Snow.

How reasonable is it to translate names from our world into theirs? Is Jon Snow's real name ‘Iōnos’ (I mean the real form of the name rendered ‘Jon’ in translation, not his birth name ‘Aegon’), and are they (Martin, Peterson, etc) translating that into ‘Jon’ for the readers' and viewers' convenience? Or is it really something completely different, whose sense is translated as ‘Jon’ (a common male name, easily confused with another, and short for yet another, or something like that), which is then Valyrianized into ‘Iōnos’ when needed for style, but the original in the real Westeros is something completely different? (Like how Samwise Gamgee's name is ‘Banazîr Galpsi’ in the real Westron language of Middle Earth.)

I think it's ridiculous that we have to translate names. Translating names should be optional!
