51 animal words in Japanese
Learn the names of the animals in Japanese with 51 cards. Japanese keyboard is highly recommended.
Open to improvements and suggestions. :)
Note: some animals in Japanese share a name (rat and mouse are both "nezumi", monkey and ape are both "saru").
Other note: some animals are named after Japanese mythological creatures (a giraffe is a unicorn [kirin] and a tapir is a dream-eater spirit [baku]).
I started the first lesson, but quickly realized I couldn't finish it because I don't have a Japanese keyboard. It looks great though!
I'll make a note about the keyboard. If you don't have a keyboard on your computer you can do the TinyCards on IOS/Android since the keyboard setup on there is relatively speedy.
Ok thanks, I know I have Japanese on my learning list, but I rarely do any of it. I'm not actually going to finish your lessons. I was just testing it to see if there was anything wrong. It did look good from what I saw though. Great job!
Excellent deck. Incidentally, you've written 'bear' instead of 'kuma' in the romaji.
I just studied all the deck, and noticed few things that need correction:
The hiragana on the deer card needs to be corrected from しけ to しか
The katakana on the giraffe card needs to be corrected from キラン to キリン
The kanji for the fish card is missing, and there is さか written instead
The romaji on the owl card needs to be corrected from “fukuro” to “fukurou”
I'm using iOS with the Japanese keyboard. For some reason, the kanji provided by the keyboard are not accepted, so 猫, for example, is marked wrong.
Could you try typing the glitched words in quotation? (example: ”猫” instead of 猫). I replied to DragonPolyglot that I could not reproduce the problem with the app (I thought that's what you meant by iOS), or on the site, but then I tried using the site on iOS, and after the first 猫 I typed was rejected, the text box in the second attempt had that hint in gray color saying (Type "猫”) and when I typed the word with the quotation it was accepted ( so I deleted my reply to DragonPolyglot, because it was not accurate).
Doesn't work. I tried the " from the English keyboard, and the 「」and ' from the Japanese keyboard. I guess if I were really motivated I would download the Tinycards app but I'm more or less wedded to Quizlet, so I don't really want to.
I had the same problem, but I found that it worked if I added a space after the kanji, so like instead of "犬" I'd write "犬 ". That worked for me. Hope that helps!
I just tried your solution, and it worked for me as well. It also works for me without the space, but only using the quotation. Out of curiosity, I also tried the quotations from the English and also the Japanese keyboard, and they both worked. It's curious that different solutions are working for different users, and makes me wonder if using the quotation or the space was really the problem.
It does, thank you! (Have now completed my first lesson.) It's also necessary to do this for the Katakana words, like ハムスター.
Btw, your mice / rats, and the hamster too, look like guinea pigs to my untutored eye - I had to go to the dictionary to find out what exactly "nezumi" and "hamasutaa" were.
That's why I'm not the world's greatest fan of vocabulary cards with pictures - me, I like words.
All of the Kanji or just a few? If just a few I might know what the problem is but if all of it is being rejected I don't really have a good answer for that. Usually there is an option to say that you were right about an answer after it was marked wrong.
All of them (well, by the time I stopped trying, I had only gotten cat, dog and horse). I was just trying out TinyCards - I didn't realize there was an app, so I just went via your link.
