"Creangă" comes from Bulgarian "гранка (granka)", which comes from Proto-Slavic *grana, being further cognate of "gren" in Norwegian and "grein" in Icelandic, both meaning "branch", and also of the German "Granne", meaning "awn". Awnsome!
