How to transfer students from one class to another without losing their progress

Hallo! I am the only German teacher at my school and have many students for 4 years. I have two sections of German 1, two sections of German 2, one section of German 3, and one section of German 4.

My question is if a student is in my German 1 class this year, next year when he or she signs up with German 2, will his or her progress follow him or her? I'm assuming the answer is yes since the process is tied to the account and not to the "class."

As it stands now, I have 6 "classes" on Duolingo--one for each period. But I will only have 4 levels. If itISN'T the case that their progress follows them, I was considering only making 4 levels and then next year just changing the class name and booting the students that did not continue to that level.

Thoughts? Danke im Voraus! Emily aus Ohio

Yes, that is right.

Even a new teacher is able to see the student's progress from the start of the student's account, when the student has moved to her/his classroom.
