Wanted: Better way to find active language learners to follow
Duolingo could be improved by making it easier for active learners to follow/be-followed by other active learners. Adding searchability, including language level, focus language, streak, and even geographic location would be great! What do you think?
Of course, Duolingo could do this all behind the scenes and "suggest" friends like facemagazine does. That would be even better.
The best method available is to comb through discussions looking for learners with streaks that are learning the same language that I am. It would be wonderful to be able to search the learner pool for peers that have streaks and are learning a certain language at a certain (similar) level to myself. It would be even cooler to add geographic location to the search to link up with people in distant interesting places.
In addition, it would be great to be able to distinguish which language an individual is primarily focused on, because there are many multi-language learners and even though they may be at a similar level in a language, they might not be actively learning it currently. Adding a "focus language" to a learner's profile and allowing searches for "focus language" would better meet the needs of those searching for peers that are beneficial to follow.
