III. Previous Weekly Incubator Updates

See this index of WIUs.

August 20, 2017

It's very nice to see that Klingon, Korean and Czech have advanced a lot in this week. But, I haven't seen many actualizations of the Czech course in a while, has something happened with the course?

But, I haven't seen many actualizations of the Czech course in a while, has something happened with the course?

See last weeks WIU (link at the end of each WIU), for example "hand it over to Duolingo" here, or the Incubator's page of the "Czech from English" course.
Volunteers have completed their work (hence logically no more updates) and handed it over staff who has to complete its part of the work before the course can be released into beta phase.

The "staff's work" step takes sometimes few hours --- for JA<-EN(*) to be released in beta(**) for example --- and takes sometimes months --- for IT<-PT for example.

(*) staff created the content of this course, they did the "volunteers" part. So a special case.
(**) on iOS

Thanks for your answer jrkhal, it's the first time that I can actually see how are courses created, and I did not knew that that was also an important step.

The Czech team did technically finish up the course (got to 100% complete) a couple of weeks ago, so there's not much else to be done save for letting Duolingo release it. Usually the course gets finished up and there's not much other word on it until a few weeks to a month later.

What do you mean? They've already locked the course.

The charts provided here do show a good summary of the week-to-week progress over the last 3 weeks. For example, if you compare "This week" with "1 week ago", you will find that Korean and Czech did not move at all. Comparing "This week" with "3 weeks ago" is even more interesting for courses farther out from 100%.

Greetings to long-dormant Russian from Turkish!

Привет дружище! :) Да, это было 2 года если я не ошибаюсь.

Please we need persian.

Hi aram56,

Please we need persian.

As many other courses --- among which many courses for non English native speakers that are available for English speakers already --- but here is not the place to "request"/suggest them. See this short guide about “How to suggest a course”.
Mainly, from Help Center article "How can I suggest a new language course?:

If you want to make a [course] suggestion, we encourage you to visit the forums and making a search for suggestions that have been made in the past, and adding your vote and comments to those existing posts [and thus not creating a new one]. That will make the request more popular and make it stand out more, encouraging more people to add their votes. :)

Note: Texts in between square brackets are additions of mine.

And the guide linked above does have a link to an existing suggestion made in the past about the course you're suggesting.

Nice! By the way, the links in your bio are outdated, update them ^^

By the way, the links in your bio are outdated

In any case there are:

  1. an explanation about how to find them without relying on the links
  2. a script to automatically have a the link to the last WIU (together with features, see description in the link).
  3. a link, in the "outdated" links, towards the index of WIUs, hence towards the last one.

Hence, no real urgence to update my bio, IMO. ;)

update them ^^

Such an order doesn't make me wanting to update them... at all. Sorry.
