Why is 'người bạn' rejected? It has been accepted elsewhere..'người bạn Phần Lan', for instance.

EDIT: in fact, it was marked right in the exact same sentence (given the Vietnamese, translate to English). So in one exercise, Vietnamese to English, it's required and if you don't have it it's marked wrong, and in another, if you DO have it it's marked wrong. DL's never-ending game of 'gotcha'.

"She used to be a friend of mine." Translation:Cô ấy đã từng là một người bạn của tôi.

What is the difference? There is none in English.

Người is the classifier for the friend "bạn". However i am also wondering this very same question.

Edit: When i got this again, i just put "...bạn tôi". It was accepted.

You can use "từng" for this. If it doesn't accept, you should report it.

Cụm từ "be my friend" này có thể dịch : "là (/người) bạn (/của) tôi".
